Inter Gave Up on Him, Sevilla Didn't: Lucien Agoume's Net Worth and Value at 24 (2026)

Some careers start fast and then stall. Lucien Agoume's started absurdly fast, stalled for a while, and has now settled into something more useful than hype: a regular starting job in La Liga. At 24, the Sevilla midfielder is no longer the teenage prospect Inter Milan bought in 2019. He's a grown professional with a defined role, a contract to 2028 and a market value that has roughly tripled since Sevilla paid for him.

That arc is why his name keeps appearing in transfer gossip, Arsenal's in particular. It's also why his finances are worth a closer look, because the gap between what he earns now and what he could earn after one more good season is large.

A professional at 16

Agoume was born in Yaounde and moved to France as a young child. He came through the academy at FC Sochaux and made his professional debut in Ligue 2 at 16. Plenty of academy players are called precocious. Very few are playing senior football in a professional league before they can legally drive.

He was a leader at youth level too. He captained France at the 2019 FIFA U17 World Cup, where they finished third, and he went on to represent his country at U16, U17, U18, U20 and U21 level, with 14 caps for the U21s. In 2022 he won the Tournoi Maurice Revello with France U20. He has not yet been called up to the senior squad.

Five years at Inter, mostly somewhere else

Inter Milan signed him in 2019 for around 4.5 million euros. On paper it was a coup for a teenager. In practice, the first team was never really open to him. What followed was a run of loans:

  • Spezia in 2020/2021
  • Brest in 2021/2022
  • Troyes in 2022/2023
  • Sevilla from January 2024, made permanent in August 2024

It would be easy to call the Inter years a failure. That's too harsh. He got senior minutes in Italy and France at an age when many players are stuck in reserve football, and he arrived in Spain with real experience. Sevilla paid a reported 5 million euros for the permanent deal, and Inter kept a percentage of any future resale. On current valuations, that looks like good business for Sevilla.

Why the number 6 shirt suits him

In Spanish football the 6 traditionally goes to the holding midfielder, and that's exactly Agoume's job. His height helps him win aerial duels and cover ground in the middle. His best work comes without the ball: tackling, reading passing lanes and stepping in to intercept. With the ball, he's a tidy distributor from deep rather than a creator who carves defences open.

He has drawn comparisons with Paul Pogba, largely because of how his size combines with composure on the ball. That comparison flatters his attacking output, though. Goals are not his game, and he isn't quick. His reading of play does most of the work that pace does for other midfielders.

The weakness is discipline. He has picked up a fair number of yellow cards over the years, and some of his challenges are rash. For a player whose whole value is control, that's the thing to fix.

The numbers on the pitch

Across Sochaux, Inter, his three loan clubs and Sevilla, he has passed 150 senior appearances in all competitions. His recent La Liga output looks like this:

2024/20253513
2025/2026Around 2612

He also played in the Copa del Rey. Those totals won't excite anyone scanning a highlights reel, but 35 league starts and appearances in a single season is the stat that matters for a holding midfielder. It shows a coach trusted him week after week.

What he earns, and what he's worth

His Sevilla salary is reported at around 2.29 million euros gross a year, roughly 44,000 euros a week. That's a solid wage, but well short of La Liga's top earners.

Icon Polls estimates his net worth at $6 million to $10 million, based on reported salary, bonuses and likely side income. There is no official figure, and he isn't known for big endorsement deals, so treat that range as an informed estimate rather than a fact.

His transfer value has climbed faster than his pay. Valuation sources put him somewhere between 11.6 million and 15 million euros as of mid 2026, and Icon Polls places him in the 12 million to 15 million euro range. Asking prices are a different matter: reports have suggested Sevilla wouldn't sell for less than 30 million euros, and one figure as high as 34 million pounds has been mentioned.

The Arsenal question

Arsenal have been linked with him repeatedly, with some outlets claiming the club planned a bid of around 30 million euros and saw him as a long term option at the base of midfield. As of the last update in August 2026, none of that had turned into a deal, and he remained a Sevilla player.

The contract is the key detail. With Agoume tied down to 2028, Sevilla don't have to sell, and they don't need to blink first. A move only happens if someone pays a serious fee. If it does, his salary would likely jump well beyond what he earns now.

Before you go

Could Agoume still play for Cameroon?

He was born there, but he has represented France at every youth level he's played, including as U17 captain. A switch looks very unlikely.

Is he married or in a relationship?

There's no public information on that. He keeps his private life private and mostly posts about football.

Has he won a major trophy?

Not at club level yet. His main honour is the 2022 Tournoi Maurice Revello with France U20.
